History

The Oxnard Harbor District was formed on April 29, 1937, after citizens of Oxnard, Hueneme, and Ventura County decided to build the harbor themselves. In 1960, the district purchased Dock #1 and 6 acres of land, and added 35 acres from Port Hueneme. Wharf 1 was reconstructed to be 1,800 feet long and able to accommodate three ships.
