Description
The 365-acre Shiloh Hunt Club, located just south of the Shiloh National Military Park, is a premier private hunting property. The property has a 4-year record of harvest data and improvements. 335 acres of the property are in WRP. This was the 13th property added to the WRP Program over 30 years ago. Over 3,000,000 trees were planted on the property by the government as part of the wetlands restoration. Thousands of those trees are Cypress. The wetland hunting areas have water control systems and are drained every spring and planted in crops like millet. The property is so heavily inundated with wood ducks that the government has used it as a banding site. Populations of Mallards, Ring Necks, Pintail, Teal, Wood Ducks, Gadwall, Canadian Geese, and Wigeon use the property on their flights south. Trophy Whitetail deer, Eastern Wild Turkey, Dove, Bob White Quail, and numerous small game species are also inhabitants of the property. There are 6 duck blinds (5 custom constructed blinds) on the property and several deer blinds and stands. The property is located less than a mile from the Tennessee River and 15 minutes from Pickwick. There are numerous great restaurants in the area. The property is located approximately 2 hours from Nashville and Memphis, 45 minutes to Corinth, MS, and One hour from Florence, Alabama. Historical note: The property is located 1.4 miles from Shiloh National Battlefield. It is believed that Col. Nathan Bedford Forrest Calvary Camped on the property before the start of the battle on April 6th, 1862. Likely in the area of the property to the east, based on historical records and the calvary route of advance. The Calvery was placed there to protect Lick Creek from a Union advance. Around noon on the 6th, Forrest ordered his men to move north towards the fighting. The Beautiful 1400-square-foot log cabin featured in the listing can also be purchased with the hunting property. It's located 10 minutes away from the hunting and has a shop building for boats and ATV Storage. The cabin has 3 bedrooms and three baths baths. it sleeps 6 people comfortably.
