Perfectly positioned at the top of a private ridge with security gate and private entrance road, and between Carter Lake and the soon to be completed Chimney Hollow Reservoir, sits this beautifully designed and authentic log home. At nearly 4000sqft, there is plenty of room, 20 acres, for your large family or guests to spread out and decompress. Large wrap around main floor deck and lower level patio provide incredible outdoor living.
Land
With 20.57 acres, this property has gated private road access. Ponderosa pines are the dominant tree on this hilly to flat piece of property that straddles the ridge between Carter Lake and soon to be completed Chimney Hollow Reservoir. A predominantly treed parcel, the immediate area around the house has had trees thinned and underbrush cleared for fire mitigation, essential in any forested area. On the west side of the house, low level rock outcroppings provide seating for incredible western views of Chimney Hollow and the foothills and mountains to the west. Incredible views and very private access are a huge part of this property. DO NOT attempt to access.
Improvements
This beautiful, nearly 4000sqft log home is extremely well designed and maintained. The detached 2 car garage is oversized at 625sqft. At over 1400+ sqft, the additional workshop/garage could hold 4-6 more vehicles or provide any number of other uses. One workshop bay is heated with a pellet stove. The 1000 gallon propane tank is owned and underground for aesthetic and safety reasons. Let your friends bring their RV and stay for extended periods because there is a place to hook up waste water, electric and fresh water. At 660′ deep, the well has a submersible pump and is the beginning of an elaborate water system that has purifiers, cistern, pressure tanks and water softener. A large water solar bank preheats water and uses that for the radiant heating and in house hot water dramatically reducing electric and gas usage. The entrance driveway off of the entrance road has been reinforced with paving at the curves.
Recreation
Where do we start. With plenty of room on site, in fact over 20 acres, you can easily recreate on site, but add to that the close proximity, 5 minutes away, of Carter Lake with full marina and campground, and soon to be filled and opened Chimney Hollow Reservoir. About 30-40 minutes away you have world famous Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park, with the Big Thompson River and miles of trout fishing.. Watch fireworks from any number of towns from this elevated perch. This is a top area for road bikers with a variety of difficulty. The Denver Broncos, Colorado Avalanche, Denver Nuggets are less than an hour away. There are 2 City of Loveland golf courses and TPC Heron Lakes, which hosts a Korn Ferry event each year, within 30 minutes.
Region & Climate
At about 6100′ in elevation and right on top of a high ridgeline, summer temps are cooler than in town, especially with a fairly consistent cross breeze. Winters are milder than the mountains and with the east facing driveway, access is good all year round, but like anywhere in Colorado, snow removal is always necessary. This is in an area known for comfortable temperature ranges helped by our low humidity.
Location
Denver, Denver International Airport, Boulder, Cheyenne WY, Estes Park are all about an hour away. The City of Loveland, population 80,000+ is 20 minutes away and has incredible health and welfare support, as well as shopping, restaurants, etc. Fort Collins, 170,000+, is 35 minutes and is the home of Colorado State University.
