Description
This 10.33 acre mining claim along Cement Creek Road has year-round automobile access, good southern exposure, and is a seven-minute walk to the Silverton Mountain ski lift. Power and telephone lines are across the main road. An unplowed county road makes one switchback through the property, crosses Georgia Creek, and then switchbacks up through truly amazing backcountry ski terrain that funnels straight down to the propertya natural location for a quality snowcat ski lodge. The Dooley Claim has a short, sealed adit with a pipe that drains natural iron springs, the same water that feeds the natural iron fens just off the property line. The tunnel went only a short way into the mountain before it intersected with the naturally-occurring iron springs, causing it to be abandoned. No minerals were ever produced. No man-made pollution was ever present. Despite the construction of a small flume and two small settling ponds (the lower of which is entirely on BLM land). The Dooley Claim was included with 45 other sites on the 2015 Superfund Decision. However, EPA concluded all mitigation work on the property in October 2021. Although there are safe potential building sites, much of the acreage is meadows in an avalanche runout zone which would be excellent for livestock in the summer. 51% mineral rights.
